Community Meetings

In an effort to reach as many Greenville County citizens as possible, the Planning Department staff scheduled two rounds of community meetings. The first round of meetings was held during March, April and May of 2008. The meetings were held at eight high schools and County Square and attended by members of the adjoining communities. Each meeting featured a brief introduction of the purpose of the Imagine Greenville effort, followed by a schedule of upcoming events. The primary focus of each meeting, however, was to gather comments, concerns, and suggestions from residents — many of whom experience firsthand the issues resulting from the county’s population growth and real estate development. After issues were recorded, each group prioritized the items to give themselves and staff a better impression of the most pressing issues in each community. The final result of these meetings, and their greatest benefit, was to provide a comprehensive, citizen-driven focus to future steps in the Imagine Greenville effort.
