Your County. Your Vision. Your Plan.

The future of our county depends on proper planning that both encourages and controls growth in a positive manner. A comprehensive plan is a critical part of this process since it involves the continual evaluation and updating of those elements that are important, necessary and desirable in guiding the development and redevelopment of Greenville County.

The updating of our comprehensive plan is a year-long undertaking in which the planning department and its staff will work closely with the county’s citizens, governmental offcials, key stakeholders and other professionals. During this process, we will identify and describe characteristics of the community, establish key goals and explore alternative plans for the future. After numerous discussions, draft reports and public hearings, an updated plan will be adopted to serve as a policy guide for future local development.

One extremely important element of this planning process is allowing all members of the public to offer opinions, ideas and information that will help steer the development of the plan. Greenville County is your county, and, therefore, this is your plan. Therefore, it’s very important to all of us that we create a shared vision that ensures Greenville County remains a wonderful place to live, work and play.
